Why Ipods Lead The Portable Music Market

By Cauldwell Pipps

Over the last few years the way music is delivered and listened to has changed immeasurably. Old walkmans and mini disc players have all been made obsolete by the wonderfully simple i-Pod.

There are many different types of i-pod available, from the very small i-pod nano to the large i-pod classic all with varying amounts of memory on them. However they are all extremely simple to use to the point where they have become the clear market leaders across the world.

Using an i-pod is as simple as anything, and actually getting your music onto it is child's play. As rival companies seem to have so far failed to come up with a product that poses any real competition, it looks like the i-pod is here to stay. Even portable music giants Sony have not been able to produce anything to rival it, it seems every other product is either too cumbersome or too complicated by comparison.

The ability to watch a feature film on your Ipod on a flight would have been the stuff of science fiction only a few years ago. Today you can easily download your favourite programs, films etc and watch them on the move. What is truly amazing is the mighty battery life that is the norm for Ipods, 14+ hours play back time is normal, so you will never run out of juice.

The size options of Ipods available mean that you can have an Ipod shuffle or Nano to carry with you if you are out running or training at the gym etc. Otherwise there's the bigger 120 Gb Classic which will store 40,000 songs. The Ipod Touch, is great for Gaming, wireless Internet connection, watching video etc, available in 16 Gb or 32 Gb. The Iphone is an 8 Gb phone which is a class leader in performance as well as function and design.

Ipods are of course, available in a range of colours and sizes so of course there is an ipod to suit everyone. Your entire music collection can now be carried around with you wherever you go and there are docking stations available for you to play your music out loud wherever you might be as well, thus giving people the freedom that they've never had before. - 23812

Tabs For Acoustic Guitar

By Simon Mourrain

You can play acoustic guitar without learning how to read notes. You will use tabs for acoustic guitar which is simpler and more instinctive. Tab is a form of music notation showing where to place you fingers rather than musical pitches. Tabs are used for the largest part of the string instruments.

This variety of musical notation is tabs for acoustic guitar, or tablature. Each chord is notated with one tab, a small chart of the guitar strings themselves. The string at the top of the figure is the one furthest from your body as you hold the guitar. On each of the rows, or lines, the numbers designate the fret you are expected to be playing. A 0 (zero) is used to specify an open string, while an X indicates a muffled string.

If you're not sure what a fret is, it's the area between the metal bars on the neck, or the fingerboard of your guitar. Most of the time there will be anywhere between 21 to 24 frets on the acoustic guitar. Their dots are just there to help you in positioning your fingers.

Take a look at the acoustic guitar tab and if all of the numbers are listed one after the other and all on one line, the numbers designate the fret to use on that string; only pluck that particular string. On the other hand, if you note that the numbers are stacked one on top of the other (in a vertical way) on the individual line, the acoustic guitar tab is instructing you to play these notes simultaneously, strumming all six strings at the same time

When researching tabs for acoustic guitar you will find things like hammer-ons, pull-offs, bends and slides. The letter "h" indicates a hammer-on. For example, you might see something like 7h9 on one of the lines. Pull-offs are noted in the same way by the letter "p". Bends are notated by "b" s and slides, "/" (slash).

After understanding how to read tabs, surf online for easy tabs for acoustic guitar and pick a familiar but simple tune and exercise performing it. Even if it might take a while for you to feel fully comfortable reading and performing tabs for acoustic guitar, you'll feel a great sense of accomplishment when everything falls into place.
