James Bond 007 - The Most Successful Movie Franchise In History

By Phyllis H Foster

The best ever running and most monetarily triumphant English language big screen franchise to date is the James Bond movies. James Bond 007 is a very infamous but unreal person that was created in 1953 by the writer Ian Fleming. He was featured in twelve novels and two short story collections. The film franchise started in 1962 with Dr. No.

The author, Ian Fleming, died in 1964 but the character James Bond lived on. Subsequent James Bond novels were written by up to five other authors, including Kingsley Amis, under the alias Robert Markham, John Pearson, Raymond Benson, John Gardner and Sebastian Faulks. Two screenplays were novelized by Christopher Woods and a number of other writers' also contributed and wrote unsanctioned versions of James Bond.

The movies began in the year 1962 with "Dr. No", the last movie was "Quantum of Solace" from October 31, 2008. There have been 22 films to date with a 23rd now in the works.

Sean Connery is considered to be the initial James Bond. He played the character in 6 films beginning with "Dr. No" in 1962, followed by "From Russia with Love" in 1963, "Goldfinger:" in 1964, "Thunderball" in 1965, "You Only Live Twice" from 1967 and "Diamonds Are Forever" from 1971.

Sean Connery temporarily left the lead part in 1969, for "On Her Majesty's Secret Service' when an actor by the name of George Lazenby played Bond. George Lazenby was the only one of all of the Bond actors to have only played in one movie.

Roger Moore then took over the starring role. He played Bond in 7 movies from the 1973's "Live and Let Die", "The Man with the Golden Gun" in 1974", "The Spy who Loved Me" in 1977, "Moonraker" from 1979, "For Your Eyes Only" in 1981, "Octopussy" in 1983, and " A View to a Kill" in1985.

Timothy Dalton followed for only the next two movies "The Living Daylights" from 1987 and "License to Kill" in 1989. "Goldeneye" came out in 1995 with Pierce Brosnan as James Bond. He continued for 3 added films, in 1997 "Tomorrow Never Dies" and 1999, "The World Is Not Enough" and 2002 "Die Another Day".

The single fair-haired actor to ever portray Bond is the current star of the franchise. Daniel Craig was Bond in 2006 for "Casino Royale" and 2008 for "Quantum of Solace". Another Bond movie is now occurring, set for an unspecified time and only referred to now as "James Bond 23". Daniel Craig is set to star in the lead part. - 23812

Movies For Susie

By Susie Wilder

We have reviews of some movies listed below. You can find a lot of information on movie downloads sites if you do a good search. Film download searches will include "Unlimited Downloads", "Movie Download Site", and "Download Full Length Movie".

Rambo: Much better than part II, this one continues to be firmly footed in the genre of mindless Action Films, as our brawny idol goes behind Russian battle lines in Afghanistan to save his buddy from a prison fortress. You will see lots of eruptions to keep the action going and some funny stuff thrown in too. Cast includes Sylvester Stallone, Richard Crenna, Marc de Jonge, Kurtwood Smith, Spiros Focas, and Sasson Gabai. (101 minutes, 1988)

Lilo and Stitch: Forlorn Hawaiian gal being brought up by her older sibling finds a doubtful buddy at the dog pound an alien whom she names Sew. In the mean time, ambassadors from Sew's world have arrived in this world to recover the damaging little creature. Gorgeous watercolor surroundings are simply spectacular. (85 minutes, 2002)

The General Died at Dawn: Fine, altruospheric drama of Oriental enthrall, with mercenary Cooper falling in love with foreign agent Carroll when fighting sinister warlord Tamiroff. Big Time: This is a Tom Delay compilation. Show footage filmed at LA's Wiltem Show is combined with scenes of the chameleon like Delay as assorted and miscellaneous characters: you'll see Delay, the sleazy lounge lizard, Delay's the gravel-voiced crooner, and Delay's the genuinely astounding actor. For Tom Delays fans, this is the next best thing to noticing him live. (87 minutes, 1988)

Barfly: Surprisingly entertaining photograph of L.A. lowlife, and boozy, recklessly macho author Henry Chinaski, played with bravado by Rourke. Dunaway is magnificent as his alcoholic soulmate. Based on the auoobiographical writings of cult top choice Charles Bukowski, who might be noticed on one of the bar stools. Cast includes Mickey Rourke, Faye Dunaway, Alice Krige, Jack Nance, J.c. Quinn, and Frank Stallone. (97 minutes, 1987)

S.o.B.: An inventor hatches a plan to turn his latest turkey into a hit: juice it up with pmlography and have his spouse-megastar (Andrews) plain her breasts. A glib satire on contemporary Movieland tosses in everything from black humor to dry, with wildly choppy outcomes. This was Holden's last film. Cast includes Julie Andrews, William Holden, Richard Mulligan, Robert Preston, Robert Vaughn, Loretta Swit, Larry Hagman, Marisa Berenson, Robert Webber, Stuart Margolin, Craig Stevens, Shelley Winters, Rosanna Arquette, and Jennifer Edwards. (121 minutes, 1981)

Halo 3

By Casey Jones

Recently while surfing the Internet for information on the Halo 3 weapons cheats, I came across a number of what-if situations? What if Master Chief took on different famous characters from movies, comic books, and legends? Here is a list of some of these battles and my idea of the result.

Although it is technically not a Halo 3 weapon cheat, the match-up of Master Chief versus Robocop could be hot. According to the information on the Internet both have a few similarities. They're both human, they've both been enhanced, they both have fantastic armour and they are both veteran fighters. Most respondents thought that Master Chief would beat Robocop, but let's be honest here, Master Chief can be defeated with a pistol, whereas Robocop was still going after being blown up at a fuel station. The victor has to be Robocop.

If Master Chief battled with the next combatant he would need to have a Halo 3 weapon cheat. The next is MacGyver. Master Chief has a lot going for him. He is proficient with a variety of weapons; he has that fantastic armour; he has some marvellous vehicles at his disposal; he's a Clint Eastwood type loner and he can repair himself. However, in short, MacGyver is brain over brawn. It would probably come down to the same considerations in a fight between Batman and Superman. However, if it's a closed arena where it's man versus man, Master Chief is going to win. But put this battle in the real world with Swiss army knives and duct tape at his disposal, and MacGyver's going to murder our futuristic friend.

OK, so far Master Chief is 2-0 down, and it's beginning to seem like he can definitely use a Halo 3 weapon cheat or two. But let's give him another opponent. This time it's going to be Master Chief versus the Terminator. We already know Master Chief's strengths, the Terminator's consist of an ability to master any weapon, relentless willpower, indefatigability, amazing detrermination to kill his target. It all comes down to the Spartan laser weapon. As one respondent said, if Master Chief can destroy vehicles with this weapon he can certainly put a sizeable hole in the Terminator too.

OK, let's have another battle before Master Chief discovers his Halo 3 weapon cheat. What can he do in battle against Boba Fett from Star Wars? The main differences between Master Chief and Boba Fett are that Boba has no shield, owns his own ship and has a jet pack (wow).

Many people believe Star Wars would win this battle, but Master Chief's weapons are much more powerful than those shown by the bounty hunter. This one makes it evens at 2-2.

So, those are the results. In this small poll that we found on the Internet, Master Chief is your average sort of super hero, who is not sure to win every bout, unless he finds his weapon cheats or the story writers want him to, that is. - 23812

Ring Tones - Yeh Dil Maange More

By Sam Roberts

The words in the Pepsi advertisement jingle compiled for the Indian audience, literally translating to "the heart wants more" and most everyone's craze for new and varied ring tones are a perfect match. With the number of cell phone connections sky rocketing in India and the rest of the world, this is one craze that has very little chance of ebbing away. Not that I am one to complain, especially if the tune is one of Kishore Kumar's evergreen melodies! But I'd draw the line at some of the more bizarre tunes or so called tunes, like a baby crying or the sound of a 'fart' that some individuals insist on assaulting our eardrums with.

Some basic points about the ring tone:

1. It is the name given to the sound made by any kind of telephone, not just mobile phones, to announce an incoming call or text message. Most of these sounds, especially those that do not have a tune or are not customised, are not tones at all and should actually be called ring sounds.

2. The first telephones had a bell which made a 'ring'ing sound when struck by a hammer, operating electromagnetically, to announce a call. While this system is still common, most cell phones and modern land line phones have advanced from the ring to producing different kinds of sounds.

3. While receivers nowadays allow adjustments to the volume, there are many variations on offer regarding the type of ring tone - to allow differentiation between two or more instruments lying side by side. Specific customer requirements are also covered, such as for the hearing impaired.

4. Towards the late 1980s mechanical ring tones were slowly getting replaced by electronic ones progressing from single tones to those playing two, three or more tones and then on to melodies.

5. 1996 saw the advent of the customised ring tones on mobile phones, with some Japanese manufacturers offering a number of options, both customised and pre-recorded.

6. Downloadable ring tones were available from 1998 and this service has now become an enormously successful industry right across the globe.

7. Real tones, which are usually taken from popular songs, began to be distributed from late in 2002.

All the new music being generated by bands, composers, films, etc. number in the hundreds of thousands across the world. Marketing these as ring tones before or at the time of launch allows the tune to become popular and improve the prospects of it becoming a 'hit'. Ring tones are now available online, can be sent via sms or copied from a DVD or CD. A number of sites specialise in bringing the latest offerings to the consumer, sometimes the second it's out of the recording studio. There is a huge amount of financial turnover in this business, running into billions of dollars, because everyone would love to have only the latest and the best. Since I am no different from most others and want options for everything, my heart to get to have more . ring tones! - 23812
