Download Movies The Above-board And Reliable Way

By Louise K Jenkins

Just a couple of decades ago, you couldn't even watch a movie in your own home. The technology didn't yet exist. Then along came videos and video stores and we all began enjoying watching movies at home. Now we can even download movies straight to our computers.

Right now you can do a search and come up with quite a few wholly lawful and respectable motion picture download sites. These sites will allow you to download complete, high-quality movies directly to your computer. There are fees, typically a membership charge that allows for limitless downloads for a particular period of time or infrequently you will stumble on one that has a pay per download fee.

There are on the other hand, also many sites that propose to allow you to download movies for free of charge. Most of these movies are illegally copied copies, the quality is not promised and the virus protection for your computer is not guaranteed.

In this nation there are copyright laws that let the creators of the work to be remunerated for it. Most films are copyrighted but for they were initially appropriated to the public domain. Very few movies are old enough to have reverted back to the public domain and the only movies that would be accessible on the public domain are the movies that did not get the compulsory renewal on their copyright.

That means that the sizable majority of the up-to-date movies or even most of the wonderful films from the past 40 years are most likely still under copyright. When you download a illegally copied duplicate from the Internet you are violating copyright law. You could even be risking prosecution.

Any artistic work, counting films and music that was produced after January 1, 1978 is consequentially copyright protected for the term of the author's life, plus an added 70 years after the author's death. If the work is from an anonymous source it is still copyrighted for 95 years from initial publication or 120 years from creation, whichever is less. For all intents and purposes, that means that near every film is copyrighted.

The free bootleg sites are breaking the law. If you download from one of these sites you are also breaking the law. Still, it is a choice that you make and for some people just breaking the law may not be enough of a disincentive.

The lawful and highly regarded sites offer virus protection for your computer. They disburse royalties to the copyright owners and they will offer you with a first-rate, complete motion picture at a practical cost. Be wise when you download and do it lawfully. - 23812
