The Characters Of Sex And The City

By Lola Jasminia

Don't watch Sex And The City with the intention of trying to define or categorize Carrie Bradshaw's sense of style. Because there is no definition. Carrie, played by actress Sarah Jessica Parker, is the most fashion-forward of the group and a peek into her closet will reveal everything from vintage wear to Gap Jeans to haute couture. The mix is outrageous and fun! While Manolos are always a must, each season, Carrie offers up a different, signature fashion statement " her nameplate necklace in season 1, the flower pins in season 2, then Fendis, then gloves, then hats,....

Samantha Jones, one of the Fab Four, is a high-powered, high-class public relations executive. And, as such, she needs to dress professionally during the day. Not toooo professionally, mind you. Her suits are an awesome mix of vivid colors that go wonderfully with her blond hair and show off her killer body.

Another of Carrie's dear friends, Miranda Hobbes, chooses to dress a little more professionally during the day. As an attorney, her position calls for smart, dark suits, and she wears them very well. She prefers sneakers and sweats on the weekends but in the evening, watch out! This redhead is a real knockout!

Charlotte York is perhaps the most prim and proper of the group. Her perfectly coordinated pastels reflect her Park Avenue lifestyle. Always crisp and refreshing, she sometimes appears grim in her fashion taste. But we all know the truth, don't we? Watch out Atlantic City!

And what about the men of Sex And The City? Certainly no discussion of the characters would be complete without including Mr. Big. Although his first name is finally revealed in the final episode, and we also learn his full name in the movie, we'll still call him Mr. Big. And being the successful New York businessman that he is, we see him most of the time in Armani....or nothing!

Steve Brady, Miranda's beau and future husband, is every guy's guy. Jeans and a T-shirt are all it takes to make this man happy. In fact, in one of the earlier episodes, Miranda has to buy him a suit! Nothing at all wrong with that, I say. He's cute, he's charming, he has beautiful blue eyes and he believes in monogamy. How many guys do YOU know that fit that description?

The man who eventually captures Charlotte's heart, Harry Goldenblatt, is short, bald, very hairy and somewhat of a schlupp. But he's so lovable! As an attorney, he dresses in smart, professional suits during the day. But in the morning and on his days off, he much prefers his birthday suit!

And last, but certainly not least, there's Jerry Jerrod, aka Smith. An aspiring actor and fashion model, we see Smith in everything from suits to jeans to leather to...nothing! And his hair goes from long to short, eventually to bald as he shaves his head to support Samantha in her fight against breast cancer. - 23812

Converting your Favorite Song into your iPhone Ringtone

By Thom Yarbrough

Yes, now you too can play your favorite songs as ringtones for your iPhone. The process is a little bit complicated but nothing that an average iPhone user cannot handle. What's more, you don't have to pay anything to get these ringtones. That's probably the best news you've heard in a long time, I reckon!

If you have a good number of songs in your music library you can take your favourite songs and convert them into ringtones for your iPhone as long as they don't fall under the DRM category. The DRM stands for Digital Rights Management. Songs that don't come under DRM can be converted into ringtones with the help of iTunes and just like that, your iPhone will have cool songs of your choice playing from it like you've always wanted.

The first step would be to launch iTunes on your computer. This process is suitable for other MAC users as well as Windows PC users. Now pick the song you'd like as your ringtone and then select the specific part that you'd like to hear play. Then you make a note of that portion of the track from where it begins and ends, once you do that, right click on the cong and select the 'Get Info' option.

Once you've done that, continue by selecting the 'Options' tab and then enter the time that the desired portion of the clips starts at, for example, the part you like could start at 1:50 viz. 1 minute and 50 seconds. After you've entered the start time, enter the end time in the same manner and ensure that it does not exceed 40 seconds. That done, you must then right click on the cong and choose the 'Convert selection to AAC' option; iTunes will then create a duplicate of your ringtone, you must then delete the original and retain the duplicate.

Now you can find the duplicate on your iTunes, though you may have to use the following path Music- iTunes- iTunes Music, if you pay attention you'll see that it as an extension of 'm4a' on it. Just replace that extension 'm4a' with 'm4r' which is the ringtone format for your iPhone. That's all it takes! Double click on the ringtone which will then automatically be added to your ringtones folder in your iTunes music library by iTunes itself.

Now all you have to do is to connect your iPhone to iTunes and transfer the ringtones. Voila! Do remember to do this only with songs that do not fall under Digital Rights Managements. Otherwise, it can be an illegal activity such as piracy. - 23812
