George "The Possum" Jones

By James G. Pynn

George Jones was one of the hardest drinking, fastest living son of a guns in all of country music history. Admittedly living a life modeled after his hero, Hank Williams, George Jones blazed a trail of infamy and heartache across the wide-open plains of country music history. Known for his distinctive voice and loose phrasing style, the exploits of George Jones have passed from mere stories into legend.

It's true: according to Country Music Television, Jones is the "the greatest living country singer" today. In true George Jones style, I'm sure hed say something to the effect, "it's the living part that's tricky." His clever turn of phrases and unusual vocal style can best be sampled on such legendary hits as "Hello Walls" and "If the Drinkin' Don't Kill Me." Then again, all of his songs carry that signature sound.

Famously married to Tammy Wynette, their marriage was one made in madness. It was the stuff of legend, often requiring the services of the local sheriff to help them mediate. Of course that's a fancy word for "cool off." Between his drinking problem and her drug addiction, it was not the high point of marital bliss for either one of them, When it all came crashing down in 1975, no one was surprised.

What's age got to do with it? Despite being in to his seventies now, George Jones has not stopped recording or touring. Indeed, he is on tour this summer and is coming to a local gin joint near you. Though there might no be as much pep in his step, his voice is as rich and full as ever. No one can turn a song like The Possum. For those of you not in the know, that's his nickname.

Getting your hands on a set of George Jones tickets is as easy as pie. You just have to follow the links to the best little booking service around. Don't wait until the last minute and fall prey to the scalpers. Get a great ticket at a fair price and sleep well at night. But do it quick, because the Possum is not on tour for long. - 23812

Sharpe Actor Sean Bean Announced For Lead In HBO Fantasy Pilot

By Jon Hunter

English Sharpe actor Sean Bean, the also played Boromir in Lord of the Rings has been reported to have been cast in the lead role in the HBO planned series 'A games of Thrones' based on George RR Martin popular 'Song of Fire and Ice' series of fantasy books.

No date has been set for screening the pilot as yet, and there is no commitment from HBO to a full series either, but with a Serious cast list headed up by Sean Bean, this project has got to be taken seriously.

Sean has been cast in lead role of Eddard Stark a Lord who is pressured to act as advisor to the ruthless royal family. Other cast members already confirmed to feature in the Pilot include Kit Harrington, Jack Gleeson, Harry Lloyd, and Peter Dinklage, with more key roles still to be filled.

The show is been adapted and is being produced by David Benioff and Dan Weiss. David Benioff has suggested a 'crappy' tagline for the project could be, "The Sopranos in Middle-earth", which can only get you thinking. If true to the books plot elements that should contain a spot of conspiracy, incest, child murder, corruption, conspiracy, a rival claimant to the throne across the sea, the still-festering legacy of a civil war 20 years before, a growing threat in the North and did I say conspiracy? We should see a show which is much darker than previous fantasy adaptations Sean Bean has starred in.

Filming is scheduled to begin in Northern Ireland in October 2009, at Paint Hall Studios in Belfast. It has also been reported that the BBC will have a significant financial involvement in the series in a similar way they did with HBO's Rome series.

Sean Bean sprung to fame as Major Richard Sharpe, the ITV series of Sharpe TV films in the early 90's, Was made world famous as Boromir in the Lord of the Rings films, but has also stared in numerous other Hollywood films such as Ronin, Patriot Games and Troy. - 23812

Off The Wall: Sales Of Michael Jackson Posters Soar

By Jenna Landers

On June 19 2009, you would have been able to pick up a King of Pop poster for less than ten dollars. One week on, there would not have been a lot of change from treble the amount. Today, that continues to be the case; and auction sites across the web have seen a huge rises in the placement of adverts for Michael Jackson posters.

The highest values are obviously centered on the unused items. That even worn posters are going for twenty, thirty, forty dollars and above, the appeal of the man and his impact on the world is unquestionable.

Mindful of where we are economically at the moment, this is only to be expected. Many companies across the world, with exclusive rights for the sole distribution and marketing of Michael Jackson posters, are seeing a welcome boost in sales; which is having an impact on both local and global economies. One such company in the UK has seen sales rocket to two million worldwide in just three weeks.

Despite this additional personnel coming in, with the order book still full and added to daily, working around the clock is very much to be expected through the course of the working week.

A study of this company is interesting: Averaging sales of just 10, 000 Michael Jackson posters annually, they were hoping for a substantial increase with the "This Is It" tour taking place in the UK this summer. Sales have far outstripped even the most generous estimations however, with orders coming from across the globe.

The biggest sellers have been the hastily redesigned "This Is It" tour posters. The three commemorative posters were initially produced in celebration of his farewell performances in the O2 Arena in London. That these are now being sold as a final farewell is poignant.

The story is the same whichever country is studied.

However, for those fans, (or possibly for those waned fans), who can bear to be separated from their Michael Jackson collection built up through the years; it could also be set to become a very profitable time.

A simple browse through popular auctions sites will tell its own story; with values of Michael Jackson posters from previous tours reaching more than 600% of their value just a few weeks ago. The profits could be more substantial if the item is in mint condition, unused and signed. - 23812

Home Movie Theater Lighting

By Marion Jones

Light fixtures are things that not many of us think about very often. However, the way we light a room can cause us to feel a certain way or enhance the atmosphere we want to create in that room. There are many types of light fixtures, fittings, bulbs, shades and stands to suit all areas of the home. That means both indoors and even outdoors where you might want to emphasize some special landscaping design.

Are you planning to redo a room? In this case, I know it concerns a home movie theater room, but it could be any room. I think that you should definitely consider light fixtures as one element to change. For example, you could start by changing the central, overhead incandescent bulb or tube light for sure.

I would suggest installing four or even six small wall-lights. These are not expensive and come in hundreds of colours and sizes to suit any budget. The only disadvantage of wall lighting for your home theater, is that the wires would really have to be chased into the wall so as not to appear unsightly.

However, you could avoid this by using standard lamps. These are also available in a myriad of designs, but they come with two drawbacks: namely trailing wires and a higher cost. They are moveable though. Small, table lamps is a sub-class alternative, but you may need more electrical points.

Once you have decided on what you want, have each lamp dimmable either in unison or separately, up to you. You should probably keep one fairly powerful light at the business end of things in case the equipment needs seeing to, but it too could be on a dimmer.

The effect can be quite incredible. And all from just changing the pre-existing light fixtures and fittings. You could even increase the level of reality and have an exit sign over the door or a few romantic mood lights higher up out of line of sight so that they are not distracting, say, a replica 1970s style lunar lamp and a fibre-optic lamp, for amusement or as a talking point while waiting for the film or snacks to be got ready.

So, whatever style home theater lighting you are thinking of, contemporary or old style traditional, you will find many options to pick from - from different colors to different sizes and styles, there are many. You can find them on the Internet or in home improvement stores. I have made a link to one of my online favourites below.

And, when you do make the changes, you will notice that your home theater has taken on an ambiance all of its own and it will " guaranteed " enhance your home theater experience. It may be these subtle changes, room by room, that make you see your home in a completely different light. - 23812
