Until The Beatles hit the scene, rock groups just used guitars, bass, & drums. In 1965 The Beatles began to experiment with using different instruments in their songs. What follows are 7 of the greatest Beatles tracks that make use of a piano.

"Hey Jude" is one of The Beatles most well known songs. I mean, really, who can't sing along with "Hey Jude" when they hear it? It was ranked as the 8th greatest song of all time by Rolling Stone magazine in 2004 and it's among the band's most played songs on the Last.FM website.

"Let It Be" is many people's favorite Beatles song and it may be considered the most obvious example of a Beatles piano song so of course it's included here. Even 40 years after it was recorded, "Let It Be" still resonates. And I wouldn't be surprised if it's still being listened to regularly in 2049.

"The Long & Winding Road" is a pretty ballad that was overblown by Phil Spector's over the top production on the version released in 1970. The more stripped back version heard on Let It Be... Naked allows you to hear McCartney's true intention for this song (and lets you hear the piano that's pretty much drowned out in the Spector version.) I really like the little organ solo on the stripped down version.

"For No One" is a very beautiful ballad from Revolver. Along with the piano, it also features a french horn and a harpsichord. The Beatles were always looking for new sounds to try on their recordings. This song is less well known than it should be. Those of you who only have The Beatles "greatest hits" compilations are really missing out on some of their greatest work. Buy the albums!

"The Fool on the Hill" is an awesome song on an awesome album (Magical Mystery Tour.) I think this is an underrated song from an underrated album. It's so cool because it's hard to really place it in any particular category. But it is trippy, and I love trippy.

"Lady Madonna" is a rarity in that it's piano based Beatles song that isn't a ballad. It's a fun upbeat song that features a great bass part and a saxophone. And the song is so catchy that it became a hit not only for The Beatles in the '60s but also for Sublime in the '90s with "What I Got" which took the melody from this tune almost note for note.

"Maxwell's Silver Hammer" includes a lot of weird sounds (mostly courtesy of the Moog synthesizer) but it also includes a good old fashioned piano. The Beatles weren't afraid to mix together all kinds of different sounds. They also weren't afraid to write ridiculous lyrics about a serial killer set to a rather silly tune. - 23812

Samurai Deeper Kyo Volume One Launches In The UK.

Samurai Deeper Kyo is a DVD series based on the manga series by Akimine Kamijyo which is set to be released in July 2009. Set in the 1600s, the Volume 1 DVD includes the first 7 episodes of the 26 that have been on TV. The story is about two characters by the name of Demon Eyes Kyo and Kyoshiro and they embark on an epic sword fighting tale. The battle of Sekigahara in which Kyoshiro and Demon Eyes Kyo duel is the opening scene of the first episode. During the battle, a falling star crashes into the plains and consumes both Kyoshiro and Demon Eyes Kyo ending the duel in a massive cloud of debris.

Moving forward 4 years in time, the plot then turns to a young female bounty hunter by the name of Yuya. Yuya has been looking for Demon Eyes Kyo for all this time but eventually finds Kyoshiro instead. He is now a medicine man and has no memory of his life as a deadly warrior.

As Yuya takes Kyoshiro into custody, a fierce snake monster attacks them both and Kyoshiro being the kind hearted man he's turned into tries to help Yuya and joins the fight, only to discover that he has the soul of Demon Eyes Kyo inside him and wins the fight with his powers and saves Yuya.

From that moment on, every time Kyoshiro enters a battle, the fury of Demon Eyes Kyo is awakened inside him. It turns out that Demon Eyes Kyo is now looking to find his earthly body to return his soul to it's rightful place.

The story of Samurari Deeper Kyo embarks on many twists and turns in the plot and is full of epic sword fights and wonderous fantasy tales. With the looming release of the UK DVD, British audiences will be able to enjoy this story on their screens whenever they like. The Samuari Deeper story has also been released as a game on Gameboy Advance and Nintendo DS - both of which have been very successful.

Future releases are expected, but as of now, dates are unknown. I, like many other anime fans, have been eagerly awaiting this release. Directed by Junji Nishimura (Ranma ), we can expect an all round good interpretation of the original manga which collected over 38 volumes.
