Iron Man - Summer Blockbuster Hit
What can I say; the movie of the summer is on DVD. Im not talking about the Batman movie; I am talking about Iron Man. Nothing against Batman, it was a very good, if not great movie. This past summers Batman movie was probably the best Batman movie since the 1988 release with Jack as the Joker. That one was certifiably great. Iron Man was different. It was a top notch super hero movie, with all the explosions and special effects that you would expect from a summer blockbuster, but it had more.
Iron man gave us the background story to Tony Sparks. It portrayed him as a man who has lived through hard times and learned how to truly be a man because of it. Tony does not just go around fighting evil, he stands up for what is right and not just what is convenient and good for him.
Tony Stark went from a globetrotting playboy millionaire; to a superhero that is a globetrotting, toned back playboy millionaire. It may be not the biggest transformation of character in the universe; but a pretty good ways for Tony. It was a good thing that he was so rich and could build this super suit for his crime fighting adventure. The action on screen was intense and fast, and looked great on the big screen, but it looks spectacular on the little one as well. The Blu-ray looks unbelievable on a high definition television and all of the action is there to see. There are many extras on the two-disc edition from commentaries from the directors and actors to featurettes showing the making of the movie.
The Disc also feature a seven part documentary on how the film was made. There are a ton of extended and deleted scenes as well. The Blu-ray comes with some extras that are not available on DVD along with exclusive BD-Live features where the viewer can connect to the Internet and share their own commentary.
The film is one of my favorite super hero movies to date and I look forward to the sequel in 2010. If the writing for the first movie is an indication on how the second one will be, I am sure we wont have anything to worry about. Just keep George Clooney and the writers of his Batman far away. - 23812
