XBOX 360 Mod Chips

By Daniel Thompson

If you enjoy gaming and are always on the look-out for new games then the Xbox 360 is for you. You will be kept entertained and satisfied for absolutely ages thanks to the Xbox 360 gaming library which is very extensive. You will have no hassles when you decide to buy new games for your Xbox either. Of course, you may prefer to back up your games or you may want to play hacked games, or even ones that you have put together. However, unless you have in your possession a mod chip you will not get very far, because of the security features of the Xbox 360.

Mod chips are not new. They were used a lot in previous generation consoles so they are not unfamiliar to a lot of people. The Xbox 360 mod chip is basically the same, as far as features go, as the mods from before. Having the mod chip for the Xbox 360 means that you will be able to bypass all the security features installed by the manufacturer.

Because a single mod chip can drastically help you to increase your game collection it is not surprising that they are so popular. With one in your system you will be able to play games that you got from anywhere as well as the ones you have backed-up. Even unlicensed customized games will be able to play on your Xbox 360.

One of the limitations installed by the manufacturer prevents you from being able to use your Xbox 360 in a different country or region. Likewise, games you get there also cannot be played on your Xbox either. With a mod chip you can take your Xbox anywhere and play the games that you obtain on your travels.

Of course not everyone wants a mod chip, preferring to go out and buy a new game when they feel the urge to do so. The reasons why Microsoft installed the security features they did are, among other things, to prevent the spread of piracy and to protect the fragile components inside the unit from damage.

Therefore, you should get a mod chip if you really need the extra features that it unlocks. Microsoft placed those limitations for your own safety and to comply with legal standards and the standards vary from country to country so go around local forums and see if it is okay to mod your XBOX 360.

As long as you follow the instructions that will teach you how to go about modding your system you should encounter no problems at all. In no time at all you can be enjoying any game that has taken your fancy.

Mod chips are increasing in popularity as many gamers continue showing signs of frustration with the limitations Microsoft set. Some people who prefer downloading their XBOX games online and burning them to disc find mod chips to be equally useful since it allows those kinds of games to be played. This is also, why so many mod makers are trying to profit off it. With so many mod chips readily available, search around for good review sites so you can get the best mod chips that really work. - 23812

Think Pink This Spring (Again)

By DeeDee Dobson

Pink in all shades was all over the fashion runways again this spring - evidence that the popularity of the color has not diminished one bit since last year. And manufacturers of all kinds of goods are adding more and more

Dell Wasabi Portable Printer This new little color printer is not only cute: it's small (4.8" x 2.9" x 0.9"), lightweight (8 oz.), prints wirelessly (or via USB) and uses the advanced new ZINK printing technology. ZINK stands for "zero ink", and the secret is in the paper. It looks like regular white photo paper, but consists of layers with embedded color crystals, which are activated by heat generated in the printer during the printing process. The resulting print looks like a regular photo. The Wasabi produces 2x3 borderless prints with peel-off sticky backs (great for scrapbooking) and can hold 12 sheets of paper at a time. It comes in black, blue or pink and costs $99.

Fluorescent Pink Diana F+ Camera When I made the switch to digital after years of shooting with film, I found myself with quite a bit of unused film in my refrigerator door, getting closer to its expiration date every day. I couldn't stand the thought of just throwing it out, and kept hoping I'd come up with a creative way to use it.

If you got rid of your film camera when the digital craze began and now find yourself wanting to get back to basics occasionally, check out the cameras at the Lomographic Society. Inexpensive, plastic and with a huge variety of models and lenses all producing crazy creative images, the cameras offered here are just plain fun.

A new addition this spring is the hot pink Diana F+ medium format camera. If 120 film is not your thing (although I love the square negatives it produces), don't worry - you can get both a 35mm and an instant back as well. This retro-cool, plastic camera with removable lens (other lenses such as fisheye and telephoto are available) gives you gorgeous, soft focus, vignetted, saturated images that have a decidedly yesteryear look. The camera is available in many different configurations, but the basic kit, which includes the camera, an external flash, "More True Tales & Short Stories" Diana Vignettes hardcover book, color gel filters (for the flash), 12 & 16-shot format frames, shutter lock, neckstrap and lenscap, costs $105.

Sony's VAIO JS PC This iMac look-alike comes in an elegant pale pink (as well as silver, black and bronze) and I have to say I do like the design. Other things to like, in addition to it taking up a lot less space than ordinary desktops, are: the 20.1" LCD display, 4GB of memory, the 2.50GHz, 2MB L2 cache Intel Pentium dual-core processor, the 500GB (7200RPM) SATA hard drive, and the built-in microphone and webcam (with face tracking technology). At the time of writing, it retails for $949.99

Colorful Inspiron Desktops From Dell Finally, someone is adding a rainbow of colors to desktops as well. While laptops are available in all imaginable colors and designs, desktops have remained in the silver/black range. Dell's new Inspiron desktop line has so far only been released in China, but is scheduled to appear on the US market later on this spring.

The 8 color choices include the candy colored "Promise Pink", which supports the Susan G. Komen foundation (Dell donates $5/sale to breast cancer research). The customizable Inspiron will be available both as a mini-tower and slim tower, and the starting price will be $299.

Pokens - Digital Business Cards Spend a lot of time on social networking sites? Is keeping track of your IDs and other info starting to get difficult? Then check out Pokens, keychain-sized figures (with a USB connector) that can store all that info in one place for you. But not only that, by having your Poken high five another Poken, you can easily exchange your social networking profiles with friends, making it easy for them to find you quickly on Facebook, MySpace, etc. And the makers of this little gadget have thought of everything: if someone asks you to Poken with them, but you don't really want to, instead of rudely saying no, just press your Poken's palm twice, and it will go into "discreet" mode, and all they'll get is a "Ghost Card", none of your information. They cost around $20, and 2 of the figures are available in pink: the Geisha and the Piggy. - 23812

Discover The Easy Way To Find Movie Downloads Online!

By Sam Timlin

I got an email from a friend the other day asking if I had the movie "GoodFellas" on DVD that he could borrow. I emailed him back the following - "Quit bugging me - just go download it!"

Well, I put it more tactfully than that; but I think I threw her off a little at first.

My point was that he didn't need to go and find the DVD. All you need anytime you want to watch a movie is an internet connection.

More and more people have been asking us what the best way to download movies online is, and whether it is possible to find a big selection online.

I'd like to tell you that there is indeed a big selection online; better than any video store out there, in fact. Not only can you find Scarface, but you can find old favorites and new releases alike.

Ok, now that that's out of the way, let's cover the more important question - Where can I download movies online?

Let's start with where you should not download movies. I am speaking of peer-to peer networks like Kazaa and LimeWire here. You may be able to find music on these networks, but they are definitely not recommended for downloading movies.

When you download movies from these networks, you have a good chance of catching a virus! These networks are unmonitored, so you have no idea what exactly you are downloading.

Two other problem with these types of sites - selection and download speeds.

A movie is a large file to download. When you're using a shareware program it can easily take over a day or two to finish downloading as the speeds can be terribly slow at times. You also won't find many of the movies you are looking for. The selection is limited compared to other options you have.

Your next option is to use some type of paid download service. There are different websites that let you download movies for a "per download" fee. You search for a movie, pay a fee for the download (about $10), and are able to have the movie over a secure network at a good download speed.

While this is not necessarily bad choice, there are cheaper ways to download movies.

You can also choose to go with membership based movie download websites. These sites charge a onetime fee for unlimited access to the movies on the website. This fee is usually somewhere between 30 and 50 dollars ? you can download all the movies you like at any time after paying this membership fee.

The nice thing about this service is that you have the ability to download any movie you want simply for paying the one-time membership fee. The selection is massive and the downloads are both fast and guaranteed to be virus-free.

The best download sites will also provide you with software to burn these movies to DVD so you can watch them on your TV instead of only on your computer.

Did my friend find Scarface?

Yes he did. And I'm pretty confident he won't be bugging me for a DVD in the future ;)

With more and more people going online to find movie downloads, it shouldn't surprise you to gradually see a decline in the number of video stores in your area. Downloading movies is a great way to find your favorite flick without even needing to leave the house! Enjoy! - 23812

The Blob: Endearingly campy classic of inexpensive '50s sci-fi has "Steven" in his first featuring role leading adolescents into battle to spare their tiny town from being swallowed up by mammoth glop of cherry Jell-O from outer space. China Moon: Tiny-town cop Harris lusts after miserably wedded Stowe in this moody film noir. A few nice twirls, although production is more than a tad comparable to the better Body Heat. Black Mask: Biologically machinated wonderful-cadet Li gives up a tranquil life to battle his comparably improved prior colleagues, who are trying to take over the Hong Kong embrace rackets. Clever, fashionable, lightning paced thriller is a superlative showcase for the illuminating abilities of Li who, in his camouflage, looks like the Green Hornet's Kato. Re-cut and modified from 106 Cast includes Hong Kong rendition. Cast includes Plane Li, Karen Mok, Francoise Yip, Lau Ching Wan, Patrick Lung Kang, and Anthony Wong. (96 minutes, 1997)

Hanky Panky: Blameless designer Crazier is pursued by snoops, cops, etc. Unsurprising, hardly ludicrous comedy-thriller, with Radner miscast as the love interest. The film was meant to be a follow-up to Mix Insane, although Richard Pryor's part was revised for Gilda. You've seen it all before, and more superior. Cast includes Gene Crazier, Gilda Radner, Kathleen Quinlan, Richard Widmark, Robert Prosky, Josef Sommer, and Johnny Sekka. (88 minutes, 1982)

Remember, be creative and use phrases like "Films Online". If the first search proves ineffective type in something different. See if "Movie DVD Video Rental" gets a better result. - 23812

View Documentaries With A Critical Eye

By Ric Gecco

In an ideal world when a filmmaker set out to create a documentary film he would endeavor to accumulate as much unbiased, purposeful information about his selected subject as he could find. At this point he would use his skills as director and editor to [compile|produce] a [movie|film] without [prejudice|bias] to [decently|properly] shine the illuminating light of reality on the [topic|subject] involved.

As always, things are never quite as simple as they should be. Many documentaries turn out to have a bias based on the beliefs of the filmmaker resulting in a film that lacks the balance that the art of documentary-making requires.

This point is especially true when considering subjects that have a tendency to polarize human beliefs. You can be sure that religion and politics are the two subjects where it is usually impossible to find a fair voice.

It would appear that many documentary makers regard their adventures in film as a method of changing the audience to see things from their own prejudiced perspective instead of using the documentary to convey factual accuracy.

Because of this it is crucial that we the viewers are constantly aware of possible bias whenever we watch a documentary movie. Understand that a person who makes documentaries is merely another human being with their own ideas about how the world works who is trying to communicate their thoughts through the medium of film.

Also, you have to understand that your own prejudice will come into play whenever you are viewing a work by someone else on a subject about which you have preconceived ideas. Being aware of this is crucial if you are to see a documentary in its true form

If we are to be expert documentary watchers we need to learn to put our own feelings slightly to the side for the duration of a movie, only bringing them into play when you want to compare our own beliefs with those of the film maker. In this way we can adjust our beliefs and perhaps even bring a new idea into our belief system.

One of the many great things to come out of the Internet revolution is that you now have access to a mind-blowing array of media to emerge yourself in. You can now watch documentaries online from your own home for free which, for those of us who are able to keep an open mind, means unlimited access to a whole new world of learning. - 23812
