How the Xbox 360 Compares to Other Game Consoles

By Larry Moon

Over the years, Microsoft has had to deal with everything from the Playstation 2 and 3 to the Wii, as well as all the hand held versions out there. This was back when they unleashed their own version calling it the Xbox. It seems like forever ago, but it was around the same time the Nintendo GameCube was getting positive reviews for gearing it towards innocent kids games. It was a hard period of time for Microsoft to sit back and wait to release the ultimate gaming system called the Xbox 360.

For a whole year Microsoft had cornered the market with the Xbox 360, and had record sales. However, Playstation and Nintendo finally caught up with the trend, with Sony releasing the Playstation 3, and Nintendo coming out with the Wii. This was the new 7th generation consoles, and because of that, this is when the console wars really heated up. They heated up because now the consumer was having a hard time trying to figure out where to spend their money, and gave them the best deal. This is how the Xbox stacks up against the competition.

When comparing the 360 to the Nintendo Wii, there really isn't a comparison. Just take a look at the graphics from each console at your local gaming store and you'll see how far ahead the Xbox 360 is in this department. While this may be true, there are similar titles that can be played on both systems, so you ought to compare the controls.

The Wii's primary selling point is the motion controller and while it is a very good piece of technology, it doesn't implement well with other games. The Xbox 360 has more options allowing people to use a wired or wireless controller. This type of controller suits the more hardcore gamers that enjoy first person shooters or other top Xbox 360 exclusive games.

Probably one of the biggest differences is the high rated titles available on the Xbox 360. Most of these are geared towards the 20s to 30s crowd, while the Wii keeps their games set for the entire family. Seriously, how many moms and grandparents do you know who are going to enjoy Gears of War 1 and 2? Regardless, the Xbox 360 wins the battle in the quality of game's department.

If you really want the best comparison you have to look at the Playstation 3 and the Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 continues to impress with its array of visuals that are comparable to PC games that have higher standard video cards, even though the PS3 takes the category because of Blu-Ray support. When looking at the consoles as a whole it is very easy to conclude that the consoles are both highly graphical and look alike to the general eye. If you want to burn xbox 360 games try it out here.

Many games that concentrate on high definition graphics usually get released on both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. The Playstation 3 currently has more exclusive franchises, but the Xbox 360 remains on top with more exclusive titles. The best gaming console in terms of the games that they offer depend on the gamer's presence which is why both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 are making sales. The Xbox 360 still holds more titles that received positive ratings so the Xbox 360 could be the winner here.

In the end you won't find a concrete answer regarding this debate. While all 3 consoles are unique in their own way, they all give you a great way to enjoy video games. While the Xbox 360 and PS3 continue to battle, the final decision will come from you. The wars aren't going anywhere, but the Xbox 360 is a powerful system that offers all kinds of benefits and features to the gaming. Maybe you want to take it for a spin. - 23812
