Rich in Love: The individuals behind Driving Miss Daisy have taken Josephine Humphreys' novel and tried difficult to knit another evocative Southern story but they don't really triumph, although there are numerous fine scenes. The film is based on an adolescent trying to keep her family together. Amid the members are her idle dad (another awesome Finney depiction), missing mommy, and nutty sibling. Cast includes Albert Finney, Jill Clayburgh, Kathryn Erbe, Kyle MacLachlan, Piper Laurie, Ethan Hawke, Suzy Amis, and Alfie Woodard. (105 minutes, 1993)

The Sugarland Express: Exact amusement, based on truth, in regards to a youthful couple escaping to Sugarland, Texas, to recover their child (whom they decline to give up for adoption), and the cops who chase them all the way through Texas. Cast includes Goldie Hawn, Ben Johnson, Michael Sacks, William Atherton, Steve Kanaly, and Louise Latham. (109 minutes, 1974)

Alice in the Cities: After drifting haphazardly across America, disassociated reporter Vogler meets a lady and finds himself saddled with her nine year old baby girl while she mysteriously vanishes. Brilliant, often spellbinding film reflects on the consequence of American pop lifestyle on postwar Europeans. Cast includes Rudiger Vogler, Yella Rottlander, Lisa Kreuzer, and Chuck Berry. (110 minutes, 1974)

Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore: The moive tells the story of a lady's odyssey to find out who she is and some measure of cheerfulness after her spouse dies, leaving her and a youthful child penniless. Cast includes Ellen Burstyn, Kris Kristofferson, Billy Green Bush, Alfred Lutter, Diane Ladd, Jodie Foster, Harvey Keitel, Vic Tayback, and Valerie Curtin. (113 minutes, 1974)

In for Treatment: Easy, pointed, commanding tale of a middle-aged mam who checks into a clinic for an examination although is seriously dying of cancer. He must handle a remote, maddeningly impersonal health center system. Hard to watch due to the subject, however still poignant and by no means maudlin. Cast includes Helmert Woudenberg, Frank Groothpf, and Marja Kok. (99 minutes, 1979)

The Dinner Game: Humorous charade in regards to a self centered publisher who partakes in a monthly custom with his buddies to ask the stupidest individual they could find to supper. Lhermitte has discovered a doozy, a civil servant Villeret who interferes in his own life in incredible ways. The work is comically ludicrous without being nasty. Cast includes Thierry Lhermitte, Jacques Villeret, Francis Huster, Daniel Prevost, Alexandra Vandernoot, and Catherine Frot. (81 minutes, 1998)

The Stalking Moon: Army scout helps white female who has lived with the Apaches to flee with her youthful half breed child, when boy's dad comes after them. Convincing fascinating Western is both smooth and boring. Cast includes Gregory Peck, Eva Marie Savior, Robert Forster, Noland Clay, Russell Thorson, and Frank Silvera. (109 minutes, 1969)

Killpoint: Boring, one dimensional action film with cop Fong and agent Roundtree on the track of gunrunners. This flims is action packed and brutally viscious. Cast includes Leo Fong, Richard Roundtree, Cameron Mitchell, Pile Perforate, and Wish Holy day. (89 minutes, 1984)

The Facts of Life: Advanced comedy with Bob and Lucy leaving their partners for an interlude together. The 2 megastars make a team worth observing. Cast includes Bob Wish, Lucille Ball, Ruth Hussey, and Don DeFore. (103 minutes, 1960)
