Good Luck: The tale of a blind guy and a paraplegic who plan to enter a white-water rafting race in request to demonstrate their own self esteem. The topic of glory over difficulty is farni1iar, although the film's heart is in the right place. There are some sincerely amusing scenes. Cast includes Gregory Hines, Vincent D'Onofrio, James Earl Jones, Max Gail, Joe Theismann, Roy Firestone, Maria O'Brien, and Sara Spark. (98 minutes, 1997)

All about Eve: Brilliantly advanced (and skeptical) look at life in and around the show, with a script by director Mankiewicz (based on the tale "The Knowledge of Eve" by Mary Orr). Davis is positively on point as an aging megastar that takes in a loving fan (Baxter) and eventually finds that the youthful lady is taking over her life. Cast includes Bette Davis, Anne Baxter, George Sanders, Celeste Holm, Gary Merrill, Thelma Ritter, Marilyn Monroe, Hugh Marlowe, and Gregory Ratoff. (138 minutes, 1950)

Bullitt: Definitive McQueen anti-hero part that he grows to love. As a cop trying to keep is witness alive. McQueen sees a lot of bloodshed as the mob is out to kill the man he must protect. Cast includes Steve McQueen, Robert Vaughn, Jacqueline Bisset, Don Gordon, and Robert Duvall. (113 minutes, 1968)

Night Moves: L.A. investigator Hackman sets apart his domestic grief to track nymphet Griffith to Florida Keys. Difficult however underrated mental suspense film by Alan Acute leads to shocking pinnacle. Cast includes Gene Hackman, Jennifer Warren, Susan Clark, Edward Binns, Harris Yulin, Kenneth Harms, James Woods, Melanie Griffith, Dennis Dugan, and Max Gail. (99 minutes, 1975)

Close Your Eyes: Scotland Yard investigator Henderson draws hypnotherapist Visnjic into a difficult case concerning a serial murderer and a little gal who's been shocked from being held hostage by him. Mixing occult factors with a whodunit, this unique, sincerely scary thriller stays on target right to the end. Cast includes Goran Visnjic, Shirley Henderson, Miranda Otto, Paddy Considine, Claire Rushbrook, Fiona Shaw, Coon Redgrave, and Sophie Stuckey (103 minutes, 2003)

The Proud Rebel: Well presented post Civil War research of 2-fisted Southern Ladd searching for medical help for a mute child (played by Ladd's actual child).Olivia de Havilland is the female who tames him. Cast includes Alan Ladd, Olivia de Havilland, Dean Jagger, David Ladd, Ceeil Kellaway, Henry Hull, John Carradine, and Dean Stanton. (103 minutes, 1958)

Leadbelly: Poignant biography of the legendary folksinger Huddie Ledbetter, master of the twelve string guitar and long time convict on the Texas and Louisiana chain gangs. Cast includes Roger E. Mosley, Paul Benjamin, Madge Sinclair, Alan Manson, Albert P. Chamber, Craft Evans, and Loretta Greene. (126 minutes, 1976)
