Just a Gigolo: Extremely fascinating cast is the best part of this odd melodrama featuring Bowie as a Prussian war vet who floats from job to job in Berlin before ultimately finding his real purpose. Dietrich, in her last film appearance, pops in long enough to sing the title melody. Rome's vigorous performance gives lift to choppy film. Cast includes David Bowie, Sydne Rome, Kim Novak, David Hemmings, Maria Schell, Curt Jurgens, and Marlene Dietrich. (105 minutes,'79)
Shining Through: Shining Through is movie is set in WWII. Linda Voss is a legal secretary with a Jewish relative in Germany. She figures out her boss is working for the government on covert operations. She wants to help, and she speaks German. She eventually gets an assignment to go undercover in Germany. Bean: Mr. Bean is a funny character played by genius comedian Rowan Atkinson. Being the caretaker of the Royal National Gallery, Bean is asked to take the famed Whistlers Mother painting to LA. This trip proves to be an incredible adventure for Mr. Bean.
The Happiest Days of Your Life: Pat Patricia to take issues into her own hands. Beautifully orchestrated and photographed by Jack Hildyard, with Laughton having a stellar performance in the lead role. The movie loses steam during the journey but it is still amusing. Cast includes Alastair Sim, Margaret Rutherford, Gentleman Middleton, Joyce Grenfell, Edward Rigby, Muriel Aked, John Bentley, Bernadette O'Farrell, and Richard Wattis. (84 minutes,'50)
