Off The Wall: Sales Of Michael Jackson Posters Soar

By Jenna Landers

On June 19 2009, you would have been able to pick up a King of Pop poster for less than ten dollars. One week on, there would not have been a lot of change from treble the amount. Today, that continues to be the case; and auction sites across the web have seen a huge rises in the placement of adverts for Michael Jackson posters.

The highest values are obviously centered on the unused items. That even worn posters are going for twenty, thirty, forty dollars and above, the appeal of the man and his impact on the world is unquestionable.

Mindful of where we are economically at the moment, this is only to be expected. Many companies across the world, with exclusive rights for the sole distribution and marketing of Michael Jackson posters, are seeing a welcome boost in sales; which is having an impact on both local and global economies. One such company in the UK has seen sales rocket to two million worldwide in just three weeks.

Despite this additional personnel coming in, with the order book still full and added to daily, working around the clock is very much to be expected through the course of the working week.

A study of this company is interesting: Averaging sales of just 10, 000 Michael Jackson posters annually, they were hoping for a substantial increase with the "This Is It" tour taking place in the UK this summer. Sales have far outstripped even the most generous estimations however, with orders coming from across the globe.

The biggest sellers have been the hastily redesigned "This Is It" tour posters. The three commemorative posters were initially produced in celebration of his farewell performances in the O2 Arena in London. That these are now being sold as a final farewell is poignant.

The story is the same whichever country is studied.

However, for those fans, (or possibly for those waned fans), who can bear to be separated from their Michael Jackson collection built up through the years; it could also be set to become a very profitable time.

A simple browse through popular auctions sites will tell its own story; with values of Michael Jackson posters from previous tours reaching more than 600% of their value just a few weeks ago. The profits could be more substantial if the item is in mint condition, unused and signed. - 23812
