Marked for Death : Recognizable, mindless action movie with ex-medication representative Seagal taking on Jamaican pill pushers who've, as the title affirms, marked him and his family for extinction. Sour Grapes: Bierko hits a $400,000 slot machine jackpot at a casino; Weber, his physician blood brother, imagines he's owed half the loot because he loaned him the mandatory quarters. Infrequently extremely ludicrous, the film is sabotaged by overemphatic "comedy" performing, unsympathetic characters, and a sitcom approach. Writer-director David co-created Seinfeld, which clarifies both the excellent and the poor stuff here. Cast includes Steven Weber, Craig Bierko, Matt Keeslar, Karen Sillas, Robyn Peterman, Viola Harris, and Jennifer Leigh Warren. (92 minutes, 1998)

The Thomas Crown Affair: Thomas Crown is a billionaire. He has an interesting hobby. When a priceless Monet is stolen, who would suspect the wealth Crown? Investigator Catherine Banning is hot on his trail, and Crown is truly relishing the cat and mouse games that ensue.

The Red Shoes: Finished with integrity and a pulsing stone soundtrack. Cast includes Anton Walbrook, and Marius Gorin. (133 minutes, 1948)

Murders in the Rue Morgue: Expressionistic terror film based on Poe tale, with Lugosi as fiendish Dr. Miracle, with eyes on pleasant Fox as the newlywed of his pet monkey in 1845 Paris. John Huston was one of the authors. It was remade as Phantom of the Rue Morgue, and two times more once for Television in 1986 under primordial title. Cast includes Bela Lugosi, Sidney Fox, Leon Waycoff Ames, Bert Roach, Noble Johnson, Brandon Hurst, and Arlene Francis. (62 minutes, 1948)

Supreme Justice: Two Supreme Court Justices are dead. When college student Darby Shaw writes a brief paper, speculating as to who would have interest in seeing these two judges killed, it is read by people in high places, and Darby is now in danger. She doesn't know who to trust, until Washington Post writer Gray Graham convinces her he will help her if he can. Together they unravel the mystery and create a clever solution to Darby's predicament.

The Specialist: An explosives specialist befriends a woman whose parents have been murdered. Together they set out to avenge the death of her parents. This means taking on a Cuban-American crime boss, his son, and a brutal hit man.

Fool for Love: Sheppard's assessment of 2 ex-lovers who find that they are inextricably stuck together. The tough part is is creating some interest in these characters. Cast includes Sam Shepard, Kim Basinger, Harty Dean Stanton, and Randy Quaid. (106 minutes, 1985)

Meet the Fockers: Greg Focker and his wife to be Pam have overcome the first hurdle by being accepted by Pam's parents. Now Pam's parents insist on meeting Greg's parents. More fun and laughs are in store as the couple pushes forward in their attempt to get family approval for their marriage.
