Ironweed: William Kennedy adjusted his Pulitzer Treasure-triumphing novel in reference to road individuals, set in Albany, N.Y., 1938. Nicholson plays a guy trying to come to terms with the life he turned his back on years ago. Streep is his longtime friend who, like him, can't stay off the bottle for long. Cast includes Jack Nicholson, Meryl Streep, Carroll Baker, Michael O'Keefe, Diane Venora, Fred Gwynne, Margaret Whitton, Tom Delays, Jake Dengel, Nathan' Aisle, James Gammon, Joe Grifasi, Bethel Leslie, Ted Levine, and Frank Whaley. (144 minutes, 1987)

The Buddy System: Desolate baby tries to play matchmaker between his lone mommy and a grown-up buddy, could-be novelist and tool creator Dreyfuss, however there are spiritual problems. Pleasantly played although excessively recognizable (and overlong) romantic comedy. Cast includes Richard Dreyfuss, Susan Sarandon, Nancy Allen, Jean Stapleton, Will Wheaton, Edward Fall, and Keene Curtis. (110 minutes, 1984)

Ju-on The Grudge: Ghosts of a violently killed mom and her child vengefully terrorize and murder a succession of individuals who have a connection with the humble Tokyo home where the murders took place. Not a tale as such, although a succession of eerie scenes, some peacefully scary, others outright horrifying. Cast includes Megumi Okina, Misaki Ito, Misa Uehara, Yui Ichikawa, Kanji Tsuda, Takako Fuji, Kayoko Shibata, Yukako Kukuri, Takashi Matsuyama, and Yuya Ozeki. (92 minutes, 2003)

Borderline: Bronson, minus Jill Ireland this time, is a border patrol officer looking for a murderer. Cast includes Charles Bronson, Bruno Kirby, Bert Remsen, Michael Lerner, Kenneth McMillan, Ed Harris, and Wilford Brimley. (105 minutes, 1980)

Macabre: Strange goings on in smaIl town where physician's youthful daughter mysteriously disappears and a nameless telephone hailer declares that the kid has been buried alive. Cast includes William Prince, Jim Backus, Christine White, and Jacqueline Scott. (73 minutes, 1958)

For Love of Ivy: A family desires to keep their servant, so they find her a man tokeep her happy. The film is a ho-hum black romance at best. Cast includes Sidney Poitier, Abbey Lincoln, Guy Bridges, Leon Bibb, Nan, Martin, Lauri Peters, and Carroll O'Connor. (102 minutes, 1968)

The General: Boorman inscribed this personality research of a ture story about a Dublin felon known as the General, who avoided being captured for years. Following his own skewed set of morals, he masterminds robberies both big and small, refuses to trust anyone, cherishes 2 ladies simultaneously, and matches brains with a tough nosed cop (Voight) who is decided to catch him. Cast includes Brendan Gleeson, Jon Voight, Adrian Dunbar, Sean McGinley, Maria Doyle Kenoedy, Angeline Ball, and Eamonn Owens. (124 minutes, 1998)

The Thief Came to Dinner: Disheartening caper comedy in reference to a pc master who gets to be a gem robber in Houston's top inner cirdes. Clayburgh (pre-stardom) has tiny although relating role as O'Neal's ex-spouse. Cast includes Ryan O'Neal, Jacqueline Bisset, Warren Oates, Jill Clayburgh, Charles Cioffi, Ned Beatty, Austin Pendleton, Gregory Sierra, Michael Murphy, and John Hillerman. (105 minutes, 1973)

Bootmen: Novice director Perry (of the dance group Tap Mutts) used his own background to develop this toe tapping film of a youthful gentleman's escape into big-time show business- and then back once more as he rallies his blue collar tap-dancing cronies to build his own modern-day dance show. Cast includes Adam Garcia, Sam Worthington, Sophie Lee, Christopher Horsey, Lee McDonald, William Zappa, and Richard Carter. (93 minutes, 2000)
