Y Tu Mama Tambien The Movie

By Mercie Hallow

The movie Y Tu Mam Tambin is a famous Mexican movie that was released in 2001 and garnered the New York Film Critics awards for the Best Foreign Film. It is an ageless and unforgettable tale that was loved and well acknowledged by people around the world. The movie depicted the life and culture of Mexico and its people. It efficiently portrayed the poverty that was also present in some parts of the country. The movie was widely celebrated and has been one of the rosters for the best foreign fill of all time.

The movie is about two boys (one boy portrayed by Gael Garcia Bernal) who met an older and married woman named Luisa on a family occasion. Smitten by her attractive face they began boasting about an imaginary beach until they were interrupted by a quick phone call from Luisas husband saying hes cheating on her. Luisa decided to go with the boys although the two really do not know where to go.

During the trip and inside the car, the two boys bragged about their sexual encounters to Luisa. They had a hotel stop over and this is when Luisa bade her husband goodbye. The other boy saw her crying in her room and began seducing her until they ended up in bed together. The character of Bernal saw what happened between the two and confronted them because he wanted Luisa too.

Luisa to settle the score also went to bed with him the next day. The three resumed the ride and found the imaginary beach and surprisingly with the same name. They frolicked and enjoyed the beach and had fun. They got very drunk and slept together, the three of them that night. The next day Luisa woke up early to leave the boys the boys and end it after which she made a last phone call to tell her husband goodbye.

This film is will be shown in New Mexico as a tribute to Mexican culture where almost half of the over-all population in the area is of Hispanic origin. - 23812
