I love movies. One of my favorite things to do on the weekend is to sit at home and watch a movie on my large screen television. I have got a substantial collection of movies to choose from, so I can usually find something to suit my mood. And watching at home means I can sprawl out on my couch, and be comfortable.
Of course, staying home to watch all those movies means having to have a large collection of DVDs, and that can run into money if you are not careful. There are a few ways to grow your collection without going into debt.
One of the easiest ways for me to do this is to go to a big discount store, like K-Mart. They often have a section of DVDs for under $5 Okay, they may not be the latest releases, or in some cases, they are not even movies I have ever heard of before. But this is a great way to round out a collection. I have found wonderful movies this way. And at such low prices, if I do not love the movie, it is not really that big a deal, I have only spent $5.
I have also got a used DVD store in my neighborhood. This place is great. They buy and sell used DVDs. The collection varies greatly, so I try to stop in every week or two. You never know what you are going to find.
DVD rental stores are also a great place to look movies. Often they promote themselves as never being out of stock for new releases. That means they buy many more copies of these movies than they will need to keep on hand once the initial rush for the movie is over. So, if you can wait a bit for that blockbuster you really want to see, you can often get it at a substantial discount a few weeks after it has been released on disk.
If you are still looking for ways to get DVDs for less, you may want to check out some of the discount stores online. Or even stores like Buy.com. Do not forget to factor in shipping costs. They can add up and make the cost of that DVD more than you can get it for at your local retailer.
Warehouse stores like Costco also offer DVDs. They are usually a few dollars less than what you would pay at a typical retail store, but their collection is more limited.
If you find that you cannot wait to see that movie and want to get the DVD as soon as it is released, you may still be able to get it for less. Shop around. Many stores offer first run DVDs at discount simply to get you in the store. If you do a little work, you can usually find your movie for less - 23812
